The following documents will aid users in using and understanding ArcGIS.  They offer step-by-step instructions on how to do various ArcGIS functions.  

If anyone has suggestions for other processes to be added or other tips and tricks to share, please contact the State GIS Coordinator.

  • ArcGIS 8.3 Tips and Tricks was created by the training center in Fort Worth, Texas.  It provides a quick reference on terminology changes from ArcView to ArcGIS, how to import your ArcView 3x projects, legend and symbology into ArcGIS, along with several other helpful tips.

  • Guide Sheets for Using ArcGIS 8.3 was compiled from ESRI’s ArcGIS massive collection of “ArcGIS Digital Books” and contains the step-by-step instructions for numerous processes field office staff will need as they use ArcGIS.  This document is considered a “live” document in that it will be updated on an as-needed basis.

    After opening the following file in Acrobat Reader, click on the Bookmark tab on the left.  This will open a document outline that  will allow you to jump to specific pages.
