Emergency Watershed Protection

The purpose of the Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) program is to undertake emergency measures, including the purchase of flood plain easements, for runoff retardation and soil erosion prevention to safeguard lives and property from floods, drought, and the products of erosion on any watershed whenever fire, flood or any other natural occurrence is causing or has caused a sudden impairment of the watershed.
 


IMPORTANT NOTICE:

REQUESTS FOR ASSISTANCE DUE BEFORE OCTOBER 18, 2007

Project sponsors must submit a request for EWP assistance within 60 days following the date of the natural occurrence that caused the watershed impairment, or after access to the site becomes available. For the August 18 - 19 floods of Southeast Minnesota that date is October 18. 2007. Local NRCS District Conservationists can assist you with this request.
