Site Requirements: Sun to partial shade; damp sites; drought tolerant

Soil: Prefers rich, deep, moist to wet, poorly-drained, acidic soils

Form: Stiffly pyramidal in youth; broad open rounded crown with age

Height: 50 to 60'

Width: 50 to 60'

Leaf: 3 to 7" alternate, simple leaves

Flower/Fruit: 1" acorn; often paired; shiney brown nut
