Services & Programs


The Pine County Soil and Water Conservation District works with individual landowners, educators and local governments to address soil and water conservation issues.




Services & Programs provided:


*Coordination between federal, state, and local agencies including:
-administration of Pine County Water Plan
-wetland official (LGU) for the State Wetland Conservation Act
-local contact for State Revolving Fund (SRF) Loan Program

*Education and informational programs including:
-coordinate area Envirothon for high school students
-presenters at county-wide waters fair for 5th grade students
-publish county-wide water quality newsletter
-coordinate county resource tour
-provide soil stewardship material to churches by request
-provide private well water information and test kits
-poster and essay contest material available upon request
-Geographic Information System (GIS) maps

*Financial assistance for conservation programs including:
-state cost-share
-streambank, lakeshore, roadside and special projects
-native plant restoration and buffers for streambank and lakeshore
-well sealing (when available)

*Technical assistance to plan and install conservation practices including:
-animal waste management systems
-conservation tillage systems
-diversions
-field and farmstead windbreaks
-grassed waterways
-water and sediment control basins
-wildlife plantings
