What is RC&D?
Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) is a program that helps people protect
and develop their economic and natural resources in ways that help improve their
areas environment and quality of life. Local RC&D Councils provide a way for
people to plan and implement projects that will make their communities better places to
live.
Local People Working Together Can
"Make it
Happen"
RC&D is based on the idea that local people know what their areas need and can create
solutions that will work for them and their communities. Groups of local volunteers
establish RC&D Councils, which represent sponsoring organizations within a
multi-county region. RC&D Council members volunteer their time to address important
issues in their communities. The greatest strength of the RC&D Program is in local
people working together to solve their own problems. The development of local leadership
and community pride is a key part of RC&D projects and is one of the primary reasons
for the success of the RC&D Program.
What is MARC&D?
The Minnesota Association of Resource Conservation & Development (MARC&D) is made
up of 8 authorized RC&D Councils
and 2 proposed RC&D areas, encompassing 80
of the 87 counties in Minnesota. MARC&D provides program leadership and direction at the state
level, as well as training, network building, and rural development strategies. The
MARC&D is a unified voice representing the Minnesota RC&D Councils when making
agency, corporate, and legislative contacts.
