MEMBERS PRESENT: Pam Mensink, Margaret Ness, Tim Gossman, Brian Hazel, Richard O’Connor

MEMBERS ABSENT: None.

OTHERS PRESENT: Kevin Kuehner, Jeanette Serfling, Donna Rasmussen

Mensink called the meeting to order at 12:53 p.m. A quorum is present.

I. AGENDA

Motioned by Gossman seconded by Hazel to approve the agenda. Affirmative: Hazel, O’Connor, Ness, Gossman, Mensink. Opposed: none. Motion carried.

II. ACCOUNTS PAYABLE

Motioned by Hazel seconded by O’Connor to approve additional January 2008 payables. Affirmative: Hazel, O’Connor, Ness, Gossman, Mensink. Opposed: none. Motion carried.

III. CONSENT AGENDA

Motioned by Gossman seconded by Ness to approve the following consent agenda items:

1. Approve payment of Annual Membership Fee in the amount of $500.00 for the SE SWCD Technical Support JPB.

2. Approve payment of Area VII MASWCD 2008 membership dues in the amount of $400.00.

IV. OLD BUSINESS

1. Discuss National Convention

O’Connor strongly recommended that a supervisor attend the National Convention to support the resolutions developed by the District.

Motioned by Hazel seconded by Ness to approve $1,200.00 towards a supervisor’s expenses to attend the National Convention. Affirmative: Hazel, O’Connor, Ness, Gossman, Mensink. Opposed: none. Motion carried.

Motion amended by Hazel seconded by Ness to approve $1,200.00 towards a supervisor or staff member’s expenses to attend the National Convention. Affirmative: Hazel, O’Connor, Ness, Gossman, Mensink. Opposed: none. Motion carried.

2. Appointment of Committees

Chair Mensink appointed the following committees.

Personnel: Mensink and Ness (Gossman, Alternate)

Cost-share: Hazel and O’Connor

Finance: Hazel and Gossman

Education: O’Connor and Ness

Fillmore County Water Plan Advisory: Mensink and Gossman

Area VII SRF Joint Power Board: Mensink

V. NEW BUSINESS

1. Consider attendance at MASWCD Legislative Briefing & Day at the Capitol

Motioned by Ness seconded by Gossman to approve expenses for supervisors and up to two staff to attend the MASWCD Legislative Briefing & Day at the Capitol. Affirmative: Hazel, O’Connor, Ness, Gossman, Mensink. Opposed: none. Motion carried.

2. Approve length of service increase for employee #23002 Grade 6, Step 4 to Grade 6, Step 5.

Motioned by Ness seconded by Gossman to approve a length of service increase for employee #23002 Grade 6, Step 4 to Grade 6, Step 5. Affirmative: Hazel, O’Connor, Ness, Gossman, Mensink. Opposed: none. Motion carried.

3. Attendance at Forestry Seminars

Gossman had information regarding upcoming forestry workshops that he would like to attend. Board consensus was to approve his attendance at whichever workshops he chooses.
