The Douglas SWCD sponsors the conservation presentations and Poster and Mural Contest annually for Douglas County 5th and 6th graders.  The SWCD Supervisors and Staff would like to thank the teachers and students who took part in the presentation and contest.  This contest serves as an effort to involve young people in learning more about the importance of preserving and protecting our natural resources.

Elwood Anderson, Douglas SWCD Technician, visited Douglas County schools giving presentations on the activities of the Douglas SWCD.  Students then studied the topic and used their knowledge and artistic talents to express what they learned in the form of a poster or mural.

The overall winner was Josapha Haider, Osakis School.  Her school received a $500 prize to be used for science equipment.  The prize was donated through the Water Wisdom Education Project and the Douglas County Lakes Association.
