Water Quality

As technical assistants to the Water Plan Advisory Council, the Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District can provide many forms of assistance to the public and non-profit organizations interested in protecting and enhancing Crow Wing County’s water resources.  Education, technical advice, and assistance for water quality related projects and activities are available upon request.   The spring of 2007 signified the start of a citizen implemented water quality monitoring program involving twelve lakes within Crow Wing County.  These twelve lakes will be monitored twelve times over a two year period in order to assess their water quality.  A Clean Water Legacy Act grant for surface water assessment administered through the MPCA was received by Minnesota Waters for assisting lake associations with starting and affording water quality monitoring on their lakes.  The WPAC was also a large contributor in making the program a reality.  The Crow Wing SWCD was partnered with for the purpose of finding interested and qualified participants, coordinating the program at a local level, and assist with the training of the volunteer monitors.  Please feel free to contact us to see how we can be assistance to you and your water related endeavors.
