USDA Extends EQIP Incentives Deadline

The deadline to complete qualifying conservation practices to receive the Environmental Quality Incentives program (EQIP) additional energy incentive payment has been extended to September 1, 2006 according to William Hunt, State Conservationist, MN NRCS.

The one-time energy payment adjustment applies only to EQIP contracts signed in 2004 or earlier and only to specific practices that have been increased in price by 20 percent or more.  Participants can receive a 15 percent payment increase on qualifying practices completed between March 1 and September 1, 2006.

EQIP is a voluntary conservation program for farmers and ranchers that promotes agricultural production and environmental quality.  The program offers financial and technical assistance to producers to implement conservation practices on their land.
