Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP) 2003 Accomplishments

This is a voluntary program that assists landowner in enhancing areas that provide needed food and cover for many different specie of wildlife. The goal of WHIP in Minnesota is to “Maintain a healthy, diverse ecosystem through the improvement, enhancement and restoration of fish and wildlife habitat, in cooperation with private agricultural landowners.” The WHIP program promotes wildlife habitat restoration and management on private lands through cooperative endeavors between landowners and Federal, state and local conservation partners.

In 2003 Minnesota established and enhanced over 2000 acres of wildlife habitat.
